Quick commerce, uncertain demand push up festive borrowing for consumer brands
A survey by the community social media and civic engagement platform LocalCircles, based on more than 67,000 responses across 307 districts, released on 15 October, estimated that urban Indian households’ festive discretionary spending would fall 6% to ₹1.97 trillion this year, from ₹2.1 trillion in 2025. The report cited persistent inflation, rising borrowing costs, and the absence of last year’s goods and services tax (GST) rate-cut boost.
