“If I want to be in the US, my market cap would have three zeros added to it,” he says. “Here IP (intellectual property) has no value. It has no value until it becomes a product. But without it, you cannot have a product. When you have a product without having an IP, then it’s as good as a generic.” It will take one large, visible success, he believes, before Indian investors start putting a slice of their portfolios into “this long-gestation, zero-to-one sum game. And it will come, but it will take time.”
