When Trump praised a story about him but bashed publisher for ‘superbad’ image selection
US President Donald Trump recently lashed out at Time magazine over what he called the “worst photo of all time” used on its latest cover, even as he welcomed the publication’s “relatively good” story about his role in brokering a Gaza ceasefire.
The magazine’s upcoming November 10 issue, featuring a tribute to Donald Trump for mediating the Gaza ceasefire, used a photo of the president taken from a low angle with the sun glowing behind his head. However, Trump was unimpressed with the image, accusing the editors of having “disappeared” his hair and making him look strange.
‘They disappeared my hair’
“Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “They disappeared my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird!”

Trump said he never liked pictures taken from underneath angles, adding that the cover “deserves to be called out.” His criticism echoed his long-standing obsession with Time’s covers–he has featured on them multiple times and even displayed mocked-up versions at his properties in 2017.

The awkward photo didn’t go unnoticed. California governor Gavin Newsom’s press team mocked the shot by posting a version with Trump’s chin and neck pixelated. Meanwhile, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministry, surprisingly came to Trump’s defence, calling the image “self-incriminating” for Time and accusing the magazine of “malice and hatred.”
The cover story comes as Trump received global credit for mediating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which led to the release of 20 Israeli hostages and nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The deal ended months of hostilities that began on October 7, 2023.
The ceasefire has revived calls from some Israeli leaders for Trump to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026, an honour he has publicly sought for years.
