Vance is on a four-day official visit to India along with his family. His visit comes at a time when the US President has announced a 90-day pause on new tariffs on several countries, including India. India has sought to finalise a trade agreement during this period.

Vance’s visit is being viewed as a foundation for high-level talks between the two countries, also laying the groundwork for President Trump’s proposed visit to India and the upcoming Quad Summit.

Meanwhile, defence agreements are expected to be signed during the US Defense Secretary’s possible visit to India later this year.
